The LustMite. An insect like self-replicating metal machine creatures from outer space. These Science Fiction machines are hermaphroditic and produce their own light.
This first example is the production version with full acrylic body and stainless steel convoluted legs.
There are 4 in this series of 9 produced to date and this example in Blushing Blue is number 1 of 9. It was purchased in 2003 and is owned by Wollongong City Gallery, in Australia.
Here is a group shot of all four colors produced to date. These were on exhibition at my 2003 Solo Exhibition. The low image quality is because the image came from a DV camera.
Here is the original model LustMite 0 of 9 ( zero of nine ). Note the metal sides and slim central light radiator plane between.
This original has an actuation rod called the Rod of Power that rests in the mouth at the top. To activate the light the Rod of Power is removed from the mouth and inserted below, see the next image for this . . . !

Once inserted the LustMite is active and the light is on.
LustMite production models
Production LustMites – designation 1 of 9 to 4 of 9 have been produced.
This Blushing Blue model was given life in 2002 and is produced from polished stainless steel, cast acrylic sheet, light emitting diode, built in voltage regulator.
They come in several colours too; Screaming Green, Amorous Aqua, Blushing Blue *, Passion Purple, Vivacious Violet * etc.
* Vivacious Violet has an option for purchase placed on it, and Blushing Blue has been sold to Wollongong City Gallery.
